ui/ux: Recipe Share

A recipe-storing and sharing app to simplify home cooking for everyday individuals and provide an engaging experience for those who already enjoy cooking and sharing recipes with others.

Recipe Share is an app designed to focus on encouraging home-cooking for more people by making the experience less difficult. This includes finding suitable recipes, gathering ingredients and tools, and following complicated recipes.

I conducted a user survey with 15 people to understand the needs, challenges, and behaviors of potential users. These highlight the key results and relevant data.

After analyzing the results, I identified three pain points and possible solutions through three key features to focus on in my design.

The key features.

Ingredients and Grocery List

Notes about each ingredient on whether they are optional or have substitutions, may help make the recipe manageable for more users. Grocery lists can be created by adding ingredients from recipes to a custom list, preventing users from forgetting ingredients.

Search Function

When searching for recipes, users can add the ingredients they want to use, allowing users to find recipes that don’t require a trip to the store.

Convert Measurements

Many users are more familiar with the metric system, and having the option to convert between the imperial system used in the US and the metric system allows users to begin cooking quicker.

Other features.

Profile Page

Users can check their profile for their own recipes and any grocery lists they have for quick access. Here, users can edit their recipes and lists, see their following and followers, and find the setting options.

Save Recipes

Users can name their own collections and choose which recipes to keep in them. The collections can also be shared with family and friends, making it helpful for planning recipes for a special occasion.
