title sequence concept: A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder (agggtm)

If the novel, A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder, were a movie, what would its title sequence look like?

A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder follows a high school girl, Pippa Fitz-Amobi, and her investigation of the case of Andie Bell, which concluded five years ago. Although the news read that Andie Bell’s boyfriend, Sal Singh, had killed her and had committed suicide after the act, Pippa refused to believe Sal Singh could ever commit a crime. As she finds out more, her determination to find what truly happened in this small town leads her to more dark secrets than she had ever expected.

My primary goal was to capture the curiosity and thoughtfulness the main character holds. As well as the intriguing and slightly dark tone of the book that builds up towards the end as Pippa starts to unravel the truth about the incident.

I first created three different rough concepts
and keywords.

With my concept decided, I went through multiple stages of creating storyboards.

The motion I incorporated included the use of simple stop-motion. After printing the images used in my title sequence, I took pictures of the paper being crumbled little by little. Then I put the images together to create the effect.
